- Some vocal sound or high frequences could be different
from the master, expecially if they are listened with an high
volume. This problem can be caused by a low quality playback
needle. The playback needle have a rounded shape, different
from the cutting stylus with a squared shape. For this reason
the playback needle doesn't fit exactly in the groove, cutted
with squared diamond styuls. If the playback stylus would
be squared at the first listening it will re-cut the orginal
groove. The rounded geometry in some condition could cause
a sort of very small skip, percived by the human ear as a
distorsion. The spherical stylus has a better steadiness on
the groove but it has a lower wearness, reproducing with less
fidelity the signinal of the groove. The eliptical stylus
has less steadiness but a better reproduction of the groove
signal.
In case some of the parameters here reported, we will must modify some of the
sound peculiarity of the master, in order to have the best arrangement
of the work.
The best compromise between quality and quantity is:
12" at 33 rpm high volume max. 12 min.
12" at 45 rpm high volume max. 10 min.
10" at 33 rpm high volume max. 8 min.
10" at 45 rpm high volume max. 6 min.
